Well ‘It’s About Time’! Since Activision announced the Tony Hawk Pro-Skater 1+2 Remaster, we’ve been hoping for crossovers with some of Activision’s other properties in their IP library – the biggest of which was Crash Bandicoot. Well, it might not be a new playable skater (though I’m still crossing my fingers) but Tony Hawk’s Pro-Skater 1+2 is releasing a free update today, November 6th that will not only include quite a few welcome game updates, but also a bunch of Crash-inspired cosmetics!

Cosmetics – Crash Bandicoot & Contest Winners:

Upon updating, players will get access to 13 new pieces of gear that celebrate the release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. From a new skate deck to multiple shirts and hats featuring Crash, Coco, Lani Loli and more, there’s plenty of stuff to make every Pro-Skater show their love for all things Bandicoot! Though these aren’t the only new cosmetics coming in this update.

Back in September, THPS announced the ‘Create-A-Deck contest where artists could submit their own designs to become featured Decks in the game. Well, the winners have been chosen and gamers will now be able to ride these masterpieces in game!

Gameplay – Crew Tours, Challenges & More Quality of Life Updates:

Cosmetic updates aren’t the only changes coming in this ‘Crash Crossover Update’. In fact – my love of Crash aside – I’d say these changes are the most important as they help not only with replayability but also leveling. First up, Solo Tours will now be able to be played from scratch with individual skater, which will allow you to max out the stats of your favorite skaters. And before you start worrying about this reseting any progress, fear not! While the new Solo Tours will reset objectives so they can be tackled with a different skater, your previous progress in the preexisting Tours mode will be moved to ‘Crew Tours’ so everything is safe.

Multiplayer is also getting some love and incentives as Create-A-Park, Combo Practice and online modes will be getting additional objectives that will reward fans with tons of XP and money to spend in the Skate Shop. So whether you’re just starting out or already a veteran, these bonuses are a very welcome addition for progression. Additionally, the randomization of Parks and Scores has been improved for both the Jams and Competitive multiplayer modes.

Bonus – Birdman Charity Pack:

Finally, a limited-time Charity DLC titled the ‘Birdman Pack’ has been created in collaboration with the Skatepark Project (formerly the Tony Hawk Foundation). This DLC will feature classic and additional boards from Birdhouse and Powell-Peralta as well as an exclusive new deck created exclusively for charity. The DLC will cost $4.99 and will be available until December 2021 or until 500,000 USD is raised. 100% of Activision’s net proceeds for this pack will go to support the construction of public skateparks for youths in underserved communities.
